"Instead of looking for motivation in something you don't want to do, I've always believed you should concentrate on finding the courage to do the things you really do want to do. That way energy and motivation are generated automatically.
In my experience, when we understand other people's behavior patterns when we train ourselves to see the person behind the person's behavior, the result is much greater tolerance for each other. And finding the tools required to achieve this starts with understanding ourselves and why we do what we do," says Martin.

"I concentrate on how to make things work properly and not who is right and who isn't. It's like learning to drive a car:
Some people have trouble starting the engine or need to find the pedals. Some need help with the steering wheel, and others have always just chosen to sit in the back, just watching passively as the car moves along without their input or control.
My job is about getting teams and people to climb into the driver's seat and take control of the car so they can drive in their own direction at the speed they want. It's really all about creating freedom."
Martin has had interesting and varied work experience, including selling toothpicks, but it is his commercial background that is the foundation of his career. He has a finance degree from Copenhagen Business School and has worked as a management consultant for the Swedish Internet consulting firm IconMedialab.
