Jeff is now finishing of a new book on Leadership, due to be published in 2011, helpfully entitled "What You Need to Know about Leadership".
What You Need to Know about Leadership will be a concise, readable but reliable introduction to the theory and reality of leadership. It will tell readers what they need to know to understand what it takes to be a leader, to recognise good and bad leaders, and to perform effectively as a leader.
The ultimate aim of the book is to demystify leadership. Leadership skills are far more widely used and called upon than many realise - even a team of two requires a leader. And yet we tend reserve the title of ‘leader' for company CEOs and chairmen.
The reality is that most of us will be called upon to perform a leadership role at some point in our lives, inside or outside work. But few of us could clearly explain what leadership is, what it entails, and what works (or doesn't). So we do the best we can and learn through trial and error.
This book aims to give the reader a solid idea of what leadership means and the skills a leadership role demands. As a well as providing a short history of leadership theory - allowing the reader to recognise leadership jargon in a business environment - we will explain the key characteristics of leadership.
